Our pictures came!! Yay!! So now I can start to scrapbook!! It's been so long since I've scrapbooked...I'm looking forward to it!

Hopefully I can go buy glasses tomorrow. Yay! Mine have been broken for a while now...so I've just been wearing my contacts a lot.

and I've been looking into purchasing an elliptical. I've gotten fat fat fat. So I need to start doing something about it, but I just never have the motivation to go to the gym at work.
Bleh.

So, I know I've been MIA for a LONG LONG time...but hopefully I'll start back somewhat regularly.

A few things going on:
1. I'm getting hitched in April.
2. Started a new blog -- www.fourfourohnine.blogspot.com
3. Celebrating my 1st successful year at the CDC.
4. Hating most of the wedding planning process.
5. My brother is back in the USoA finally.
6. Celebrating Christmas in 4 different celebrations.
7. Thinking and contemplating my new year's resolutions...

Most importantly, I have a prayer request. Charlie (my mom's husband) recently lost his sister, Mary, to a sudden heart attack at the age of 47. Please keep him, his mother, his sister, Mary's husband and three kids in your prayers. They're life has totally changed and need all the prayers they can get.

I hope all is well for everyone!

Work is going well. I've had a busy week in the lab. I often feel inferior though. So hopefully this attitude amongst the people will lessen over the next few months or so.

It actually snowed here in Atlanta!! and it might Saturday too.
Crazy eh? I miss Boone.

Please pray for Charlie. He's having bypass surgery tomorrow morning at 6 AM.
Keep him in your prayers that nothing goes wrong and that he has a healthy recovery.

I've been at my job for 4 weeks now and I am enjoying it a lot. There is still so much for me to learn, but I'm having fun. I actually can't wait for the lab work to pick up for me. I'm not in the lab all that often right now.

Other than work, not too much has been going on. The holidays were lovely, minus the fact that I got the stomach bug over Christmas eve and Christmas day.

I am definitely enjoying my life more. Having a car helps out a lot. And the new job...I actually feel important. So feeling good about myself always makes me feel better.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

life changes

first week at the CDC was a success! waking up at 5.30a is definitely going to take some getting used to, but hey, i get out at 3.30p...so it's worth it. i've mainly been reading a lot of information about streptococcus pneumoniae. i streaked some plates to grow isolated colonies in the lab this week, and next week i'm going to be learning serotyping.

today i actually got my badge key card. so no more waiting to follow people into the buildings. now i can enter freely, as a single person. i also got my .gov email address today too. so I'M REAL!! not just a temp name anymore...i'm an official employee. woot woot!

so for transportation purposes, i purchased a new car. sadly, no more carpooling. it is definitely nice to be able to drive myself places. but i hate atlanta driving.

oh, and GO MOUNTAINEERS!!! appstate will be going to the ncaa division nation championship for the third straight year to defend their title. yay!!

so all in all, things are going well for the time being. i'm a little behind on christmas gifts, so christmas in november was not a success.

i better get crackin'...it's not too far from now.

Fridays are always good.

The knitting group was great last night. We met some really cool people. The fun thing is, it's a pretty big group, so each Thursday night is different. It's wonderful. I finished Tim's hat and I've started on a scarf for Tim's niece. The yarn is a little trickier than I thought it would be, so hopefully it will turn out well.

TO DO THIS WEEKEND:
-bake cookies
-knit knit knit
-assemble christmas cards
-go to IKEA
-clean kitchen/house
-make more earrings
-make steely?

I'm loving the cold weather and my life. Things are looking good right now.

earrings extravaganza

So I spent the latter half of the evening playing around with my new anvil and hammer. Earrings are on the to do list, so I've created 3 pairs tonight...now as to whether or not they are gift worthy is a different story, but it's quite fun to play with the stuff. Here are a few pictures.

And, I want to have a center-pulling yarn ball maker at my house. Humph.

I'm feeling much better these days. and I am so excited about Christmas. I have such wonderful gift ideas and card ideas that hopefully I can implement them in time.

And by the way, HOUSE was totally awesome last night! I love Hugh Laurie!

I think my life is slowing making its turn around, into something I am pleased and content with - a new job, picking up old hobbies, making new hobbies, meeting friends, and just living in the NOW.

Yay, so we had 4 trick-or-treaters!!

I also made cards to send with some CD's: one for Erin and one for Shannon.

Tonight, I get to go knit, in a knitting group!! I'm so excited. I'm going to start a scarf. and then I want to make a hat for me.

I hope we get trick-or-treaters tonight. I definitely don't need the candy to stay around the house.

I've become so unmotivated recently. I haven't been good about going to the gym, not to mention that my ankle hasn't been the best recently...causing problems and such. I don't ever feel like cleaning, even though it has to be done.

I need to get motivated...and soon. I need to grow up, so to speak.

I need to study for the GRE again and just take the darn thing...it's good for 5 years. I also need to study microbiology and bacteriology like it's going out of style.

I also need to start crafting all Christmas gifts, cleaning house, car shopping, etc.

I need to be living in the present, and enjoying every minute of it.

We carved some pumpkins last night! They turned out really well. We're hoping it encourages trick-or-treaters to come to our house. I don't think many kids trick-or-treat in the area, but we want to be inviting. We got some candy too.

Little Charlie will wear his pumpkin too on Wednesday night, to bark at anyone who comes.

I'm looking forward to the night.

Howl-O-Weenie was fabulous. We ended up not taking Charlie because we weren't sure about his behavior near a lot of other doggies. We're going to work with him and definitely go next year. It was so much fun.

Sadly, App State lost to GA Southern at home. That puts an end to 30 consecutive at home wins.

Boston made it to Game 7 of the ALCS. Yay! Hopefully they'll win that game tonight.

We did some major cleaning and straightening up over the weekend. I'm so pleased...the house is actually starting to feel like a home to me. Much more is to be done, but again, we are slowly making progress.

Hopefully I'll hear something this weekend. I HOPE!

I'm so tired of working. This real world stuff blows. I just want to stay home all day and do nothing but craft...make jewelry, knit, etc. I started a third hat last night (well really I'm trying the first hat again). I can't wait until we official start the knitting group. I'm stoked!

Heck yes!! I officially submitted my resume on Monday.
Job has to be posted for 5 days. So it should be taken down after Friday.
Hopefully I'll hear something by mid next week! Keep your fingers and toes crossed.
It's odd, even though I've interviewed and everything, all this formality must be followed.

Then I'll have to buy a car...something used and inexpensive, but will last for 5 years.....

I finished second baby hat last night. It's quite cute I must say. I like it better than the first. It's a tad bit bigger than the first too, so that's good....it could be like second stage baby hat...after newborn. I might try the first one again though and make some improvements.

The weekend was wonderful. Saturday was spent being lazy and knitting all day. I finished a hat and started a new one.

Sunday was filled with yard work. My body is sore today to prove it. Ugh. It was productive though, which is good. The front yard looks much closer and we are one step towards selling the house. Yay!!

I really want to purchase stuff to make jewelry. I can't wait until I have the money to buy these things.

I think the job at the CDC is moving forward now. Yay!! So maybe I'll know something in the next week or so.

I can't wait to start knitting again. We're forming a group. Yay!! I have a baby's hat I want to make Dr. Palmer. Her little girl is due on Christmas day. I find it hard to knit during hot weather....it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do (but then Christmas gifts might actually get done on time if I did knit during the summer). Oh well. I'm looking forward to it!

Oh, and I want to buy an anvil and mallet, to make jewelry. So maybe with this new job, I'll have more money to spend on crafting.

I'm still trying to find my happy place. I don't need to dwell in the past and wish things differently. I need to live in the present and future.

Math Club: Steals the Victory

A wonderful weekend in Boone, as always.
Math Club won 1st place on the Banner, Homecoming Float, and Lip Sync!!
SOOOO....Math Club won over all!!! Hooray!!!

My long lost Grandmom wrote me back. It's been almost 12 years since she talked to anyone in the family.

Charlie is cute as always and I love him dearly. He's not eating much at all, so hopefully he's not getting sick again.

I'm pretty positive I have the job at the CDC, I'm just waiting to start work there and the funding to come through. Yay!! I can finally feel important and smart once again. Heck yes!!! I need to purchase a Microbiology text book while I'm at it too, so I can education myself on some Biology.

I need to forget everyone's lives and just focus on my own - improving my life and my relationship. I need to not think that everyone else's life is better than my own. I need to solely focus on me - doing the things that I like to do and creating my perfect life. I need to feel happy. I need to start living my life.

This task, however, is much harder to do than it sounds.

WRONG!

So health gurus are always saying to take the extra step, the extra effort to do things that aren't so lazy...like parking far away in parking lots so you walk more, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.

WELL, I tried that today. I walked down 9 flights of stairs to get the main lobby to check the mail. When I tried getting back into the stair well I came from, it was locked!! They lock them for security reasons. They do this every other floor, so if I want to go to the seventh floor, I HAVE to take the elevator down one floor, yes one. and then I can walk up one flight of stairs back to the eighth floor.

And I always complained about how people take the elevator from the lobby to the 2nd floor (just one flight), but now I see, they have no choice.
